The Fényes Family Cellar grows six types of grapes on a territory of 9 hectares. All the jobs around the wineyards are taken by the family: the wines are self-produced and -bottled. The mission of the winery is to represent the noble traditions by quality wines prepared with modern technology.
History of the Fényes Family goes back to the past, to the year of 1633. Love of wine-growing comes from our ancestors. We get back to the traditions in the 70’s, this time we bought the first wineyards. In the year of 2000. we built our cellar with 500 hl capacity, united our scattered, jointly 6 ha large territories and rent 3 ha more land which we settled with grape. In 2002. we registrated ourselves officially as a family economy, and we would like to carry on the family-traditions in this organizational form.
From May of 2003. weve started our catering activity based on wine tourism, in 2004. we built a tasting room for 50 people in the mansard. If you look out of its window you can see the beautiful landscape of the Lake Fertő.
Other way of our sales is our vinothek in Sopron. Our purpose is to take available for the tourists the “original” quality wines grown in the wine-growing region of Sopron.
Our wines are successful at international and Hungarian wine-competitions (e.g.: Cabernet Sauvignon barrique, 2001., Challenge du Vin, silver medallion; county and regional competitions several gold and silver medallions).
In the year of 2005 we get the Austrian Agrar.Projekt.Preis (Best of Hungary special prize) with the project “Cellar-window to the Lake Fertő”. Last year we won an AVOP competition, this way we have the possibility to extend our cellar, so the production can increase.
We would like that even more wine drinker get to know our wines, our open cellar waits the wine friends and people who wish for freshen up on the shore of the Lake Fertő.
